Today I went to the meeting at school for the "Apprenticeships In Science and Engineering" program. Its an 8 week program during the summer where I work with a mentor at some place in Oregon. Some examples would be the Oregon Coast Aquarium here in town, Georgia Pacific in Toledo, or Hewlett Packard in Corvalis. I can pretty much go anywhere in Oregon, If I have a way of getting to work for 8 weeks.

So If I get chosen as one of the people to be an apprentice, I get to work with a mentor in a science field that I'm interesting in for 8 weeks over the summer. At the end of the apprenticeship, I get a $1400 stipend and some high school credit. And, as Ben would say, I would be networking also.

$1400 isn't a lot for 8 full time weeks of work. But there are a lot of benefits with this program that it almost seems worth it If I had to pay them to be in it. (of course, the whole them paying me thing makes me want to do it more)

The money at the end of the summer could go to a computer, If I haven't upgraded by then.
OR
I might think about making a little trip back to Oshberg around the time of the 'end of the summer' TBCS and visit a few people. Who knows?

I think I'll look into this thing.

I found a link to this mod, and I think it looks kinda cool. It's a half-life modification coming out in a few months or something. After reading the FAQ, I read a lot of things I liked.
